Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Recording, editing and export all happen inside the browser tab. Takes are kept in your browser's local database on this device and are never sent to a server.

What format does it record in?

It records in the best format your browser supports, usually WebM with the Opus codec, or MP4 with AAC on Safari. Any take can be exported as a 16-bit WAV file that opens in every audio editor.

Can I trim a recording?

Yes. Drag across the waveform to select a region, then trim to it. You can also normalise the level, fade the edges, remove leading and trailing silence, and undo any edit.

Why does my recording sound quiet or distorted?

Watch the level meter while you speak. Peaks around -12 to -6 dBFS are healthy. If the clip indicator lights up, lower the input gain; if the meter barely moves, raise it or move closer to the microphone.
